Let’s talk Satin Stitch. In this video learn about my best tips for this hand embroidery stitch:

  1. Work with 3 or even 4 strands of floss instead of the usual 2 that I recommend for our kits
  2. Find the longest point in your fill area and make a first stitch that defines the angle for all other satin stitches in this area.
  3. Make another stitch halfway between the stitch you just made and the edge of your shape. Be sure it has the same angle. (If it’s a big shape, keep halving until you’ve got several 1/2″ blocks to fill.
  4. Fill in between your guide stitches—and have fun.

Rainy Day is our newest embroidery kit and the boots are where you’ll earn your satin-stitch chops!
